Such a great question! We’ve never heard of there being any connection between Bad Girls and Inside the Goldmine, other than that they were filmed around the same time. Drew has never spoken about ITG as far as we know. It was a very independent movie, not distributed by a studio. Bad Girls was a large big budget movie released by Fox. We can only assume that Drew somehow knew the man responsible for writing, directing, and starring in ITG and agreed to do the very brief cameo.
However you are completely right about Wishful Thinking. Miramax made her do that movie in exchange for her role in Everyone Says I Love You. Here’s an excerpt from Harper’s Bazaar December 1996 in which she explains what happened:
"I was really unhappy on that movie, because I got manipulated into doing it."
"Was it a trade-off for getting the part in the Woody Allen movie?" I ask.
"Yeah," she says. "Gwyneth Paltrow had the same deal with Miramax and had to make The Pallbearer to get Emma. And it’s so funny, because she totally busted Harvey Weinstein [co-chairman of Miramax] in an interview. So I’m like, not only hats off to Gwyneth Paltrow but I’m going to do it too! I got fucking manipulated into doing a goddamn movie I hated!"
Hmm we’ve never heard that before. Our records show A Time for Heroes was on 6/8/96 and the changing on the beach was 9/18/96. Granted the beach date came from photo agencies, which often have to be taken with a grain of salt. But we see no reason to believe they were the same day. Also her hair looks like it might be a bit shorter at the beach.
She definitely didn’t use to shy away from public nudity, hehe. That wasn’t the last time she was photographed changing. The creepy paparazzi also caught her in late 1999 while she was changing into jogging clothes in a hotel parking lot. Luckily she was able to laugh it off and not take it very seriously!
Hi there! The photo you linked to is from the 2007 Golden Globe Awards. Here’s a look at the front and back of this pretty hairstyle:
Hello! There really are not many from the 1996 black hair era. Candids from those pre-digital days are hard to come by. Here’s what we have though:
(this one is technically not a candid as they were filming Best Men, but we thought you might like it anyway!)
Drew’s comfort in her own skin definitely went hand in hand with her getting through rehab and dealing with a lot of her issues. She had no problem with nudity in the early to mid 90s and definitely went through a free spirit phase in regards to it ;) She once said that there came a time when she decided to stop beating herself up about her body and what she ate. Here’s a quote from the October 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar in regards to insecurity:
I see what a waste it is. I know there is a solution to insecurity. I don’t tend to be thrown by problems that don’t have solutions. And insecurity has a wealth of alternatives.
Agreed! We knew Drew wouldn’t choose anything too common but it’s nice that they’re not completely wacky and off-the-wall. Olive & Frankie are both super cute names and definitely fit her style!
Sorry, not a fan of comparisons to Lindsay. Yes they both dealt with fame at a young age and had horrible parents, which led to problems for them. But Drew never had legal issues and was always a reliable and professional employee. She overcame her issues by the time she was 14 and took complete responsibility for her own life. Lindsay is 27… by the time Drew was that age, she’d already made a major comeback, become one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, and produced successful movies like Never Been Kissed and Charlie’s Angels.
That said, here’s hoping Lindsay somehow turn her life around.
The book is out of print, but you can get a used copy on Amazon! It’s definitely required reading for any Drew fan and extremely fascinating look into the life of a child star and troubled teen. You’ll be amazed to see how far Drew has come!

One of the fun things about Drew is that she is such a chameleon and can pull off nearly any hairstyle and color! We narrowed it down to 2 choices each, although there are plenty of runners up (like the red she sported in 1997, 2000, and 2011):
Anne’s Choices: blonde pixie in 1995 and black waves in 1996
Ashley’s Choices: blonde ringlets in 1994 and long blonde extensions in 2003
Hi there, thanks so much for the love! These gorgeous photos were taken by Matthew Rolston in 1992 for Entertainment Weekly magazine. The second one you shared was used for the cover. The other one is an outtake. Here are our scans of what was printed in the issue, which is dated 9/4/92:
The versions you shared are unfortunately the highest res we have seen those particular images!
You’re definitely not alone, it feels like this pregnancy has gone on for ages! We’re eager for her new daughter to arrive. She’s in her 8th month now so it won’t be much longer. She’s spoken before about 2 kids being wonderful but she seems to enjoy being a mom so much that we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of more.

As much as we love the angels together and Drew has always seemed game for more, we’re thinking the time may have passed for a third movie. Adam & Drew were able to find a storyline that is a good fit for where they are in the personal lives (namely as parents). That probably wouldn’t translate as well in Angel world. But you never know what could happen!
Hi there! At first we were totally stumped by your question, as we know Drew never did any ads for that company and the description wasn’t familiar at all. Also aNYthing has only been around since 2001.
However after doing a little digging, we think we figured out what you were remember. There’s no pool or white tee shirt, but she is wearing an aNYthing brand beanie! These gorgeous photos are from a photo shoot taken for the November 2008 issue of Pop magazine and are often mislabeled as being taken in the 90s.
