Drew Barrymore Alphabet / E/ E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
In 1981, little Drew auditioned for the movie Poltergeist. The producer, Steven Spielberg, didn’t feel she was right for the role, but invited her to audition for the little sister role of Gertie in his upcoming passion project. Of course she nailed it (in Steven’s words, “there was no second choice for this part”). Drew considers the filming one of the best experiences of her life to this day, and it taught her how she wanted the atmosphere every film set to be. She also formed a lifelong father/daughter type relationship with Steven. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial became one of the most successful films of all time and officially made Drew a star.
